Most Beautiful Miss World 1951-2016, 65th place

65th place - Antigone Costanda (Egypt)

"I am so happy, I can't believe I won, this is for Marina too"

Miss World 1954, the 4th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 18 October 1954 at the Lyceum Ballroom in London, UK. 16 contestants competed for the crown. Antigone Costanda a Greek-Egyptian, was crowned Miss World at the pageant’s fourth annual show. This beauty queen is fluent in Arabic, Greek, Italian, French, and English. So perhaps her diverse background helped put her over the edge in the competition, in which she was the first woman to win the title for Egypt. According to Eric Morley's 1967 book, "The Miss World Story", Costanda was positively beaming as she claimed that her victory was also for the second runner-up status of Marina Papaelia, 1953's Miss Egypt. The big favorite from United States was 2nd,  Greece (3rd), France (4th), West Germany (5th) and Denmark (6th). That year there were no Semi Finalists.
