Most Beautiful Miss World 1951-2016, 61st place

61st place - Kimberly Santos (Guam)

"“I learned about been the new Miss World in the newspaper”

Miss World 1980, the 30th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 13 November 1980 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK. The winner Gabriella Brum from Germany, resigned the next day. Fourteen days latter, first runner up Kimberly Santos from Guam took the title.

Santos learned about her position when she was on a plane to San Francisco and she was very surprised about it. After that unfortunate event, not one Miss Germany advanced to the Semi Final round of Miss World for 29 nine years, when finally in 2010 Susanna Marie Kobylinski made into the finals.

Kimberley Santos Hill now lives in North Carolina with her husband and their children. She works as a guardian ad litem, a court-appointed representative, for children in the care of the state's social services.

Fun facts:

  • Miss Germany Gabriella Brum and Miss Guam Kimberley Santos both were crowned as Miss World 1980. Interestingly, both were born in the United Kingdom. Miss Germany had a British father while Miss Guam had a British mother.

  •  The oldest son of Eric and Julia Morley, dated Santos for a few years.
